Karen assists a variety of clients such as French or foreign public institutions, large international groups as well as small, mid-sized and startup companies, in all their commercial and business law litigations (shareholder’s disputes, post-acquisition litigations, distribution agreements and international contracts, enforcement proceedings etc.) in France, or abroad as lead counsel.
Karen attended the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Paris’s mediation program (CMAP) and is therefore competent to advise her clients to efficiently use alternative dispute resolution methods when it appears to be in their best interest.
Karen also has a great expertise in insolvency proceedings and restructuring and successfully assists her clients, creditors, French or foreign shareholders, distressed debtors, through the entire process of mandat ad hoc, conciliation or insolvency proceedings.
Karen was admitted to the Paris Bar in 2002. Before joining Kalliope in 2016, Karen practiced several years in France (Bignon Lebray in 2002), in Louisiana (USA) (Koerner Law Firm 2002-2003), and in the Paris office of Norton Rose LLP (2004-2010). In 2011, Karen joined the Parisian office of the Canadian law firm Heenan Blaikie as a partner in charge of the Litigation, Restructuring and Insolvency department.
Karen holds a Master in Business Law from the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne (1998) and a Master in Economic Law from Louvain-la-Neuve University in Belgium (1998).
Karen also graduated with a Master in Business Administration from the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne (IAE, Sorbonne Graduate School of Business) in 1999. During her master’s degree, Karen worked as a financial controller with the National Center of the telecommunication studies (CNET) in the Research and Development of France Telecom department (1998-1999).
